Sacramental Preparation

Catechesis is an education in the faith of children, young people, and adults which includes especially the teaching of Christian doctrine imparted, generally speaking, in an organic and systematic way, with a view to initiating the hearers into the fullness of Christian life.  (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 5)
There is an urgent need to make faith formation available at every stage of life and in ways that speak to the minds and hearts of all people today, young and old. “Faith Formation” means acquiring a thorough knowledge and ever-increasing depth of understanding of the riches of the faith, a deepening spirituality, and a living of the faith through our actions and our worship.  The vision of the faith formation ministry area is to engage with the community in lifelong faith formation that nurtures and deepens one's relationship with God. Its focus is to expand knowledge, change hearts, and transform daily lives. (Diocese of Camden Pastoral Priority)

Baptism
Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments.   Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons and daughters of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission..." (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1213). | Sacramental Preparation

First Reconciliation
The Children will be prepared for the Sacraments of Reconciliation (Penance, Confession) and First Solemn Eucharist during a two year process in the Family Faith Formation program.  This preparation will be according to the Sacrament Guidelines of the Diocese of Camden. See Also: Schedule for Parish Reconciliation

First Solemn Eucharist
The Children will be prepared for the Sacraments of Reconciliation (Penance, Confession) and First Solemn Eucharist during a two year process in the Family Faith Formation program.  This preparation will be according to the Sacrament Guidelines of the Diocese of Camden.

Confirmation
Catechesis for the sacrament is an ongoing responsibility of both parents and parish. Parents, Pastor and catechists should be able to see some evidence of an active faith-life in the witness of the candidate’s participation in the sacramental life of the Church. This preparation will be according to the Sacrament Guidelines of the Diocese of Camden. | Sacramental Preparation

Marriage Preparation
The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1601) | Sacramental Preparation
