Adult Faith Formation |
Adult Faith Formation is the lifelong process of finding and falling in love with God in the midst of our human lives. Every one of us, by virtue of our Baptism, is on a life-long journey of faith. Consequently, Adult Faith Formation has as its purpose to support, nourish, and challenge adults as they explore their faith and grow in relationship with God.
Religious education as adults is vital in our pilgrimage to our eternal home with God. In the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ document, Our Hearts Were Burning Within Us (OHWB), the Bishops outline three key goals for adult faith formation(#67-73): -Inviting and enabling ongoing conversion to Jesus in holiness of life -Promoting and supporting active membership in the Christian community -Calling and preparing adults to act as disciples in mission to the world Here at Holy Angels parish, the Adult Formation Ministry strives to achieve this through various series as well as presentations on individual topics, such as Series on the Mass; Series on Prayer; The Joy of Dying: A look at the process of death, judgment and eternal life; Eucharistic Miracles; How to Forgive When You Can’t Forget: A look at the process of forgiving even in the midst of woundedness; Making a better Confession and Growing in Virtue. Adult Scripture Study |
Mission Statement: Adult Scripture Study is aimed at exposing parishioners to the riches contained in the Bible.
Mission/description: The Second Vatican Council in its decree on “The Word of God” (Dei Verbum) launched a biblical renewal in the Catholic Church. It mandated that there be easy access to sacred Scriptures and for suitable and correct translations from the original texts. The early Fathers of the Church would say that ignorance of the bible leads to ignorance of Jesus. Twice a year, spring (March-April) and fall (September-October), classes are held with specific Scripture themes either from the New Testament or from the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament). Materials from the Scripture Programs of Little Rock, Arkansas Diocese are used. Programs are announced in the parish bulletin and through a mailing list. Men's Bible Study |
The Men’s Bible Study Group meets each Tuesday night at 7pm in the church basement to read and reflect upon the coming Sunday’s Gospel and related reflections from various religious figures. It is an informal discussion group open to all men of the parish where you are invited to listen and discuss the topics at hand. You don’t need to bring anything to participate besides yourself. Come join with other Catholic gentlemen as we discuss our faith and support each other on our faith journeys. If you are not comfortable talking in a group setting, you can come and just listen. It is a reminder that you are not alone in living the faith, particularly in these more secular times.

Seven Sisters Apostolate |
The Seven Sisters Apostolate is a call for women to strengthen the Church by ensuring that a Holy Hour is prayed each day of the week for the sole intention of our parish priests. Each woman commits to a Holy Hour on a distinct day of the week, for every week, thus ensuring that each Priest is prayed for every day. You may also split this commitment with another woman, by sharing your committed Holy Hours, for example each of you taking two weeks per month, as long as every week is covered. The prayers during the Holy Hour are up to you, examples being: the Rosary, Litany of the Sacred Heart, Prayers for Priests, informal prayers from your heart, etc focusing on the Spiritual, emotional and physical health of the Priest and their growth in virtue in leading souls to Christ, as well as their special intentions. We are “hidden sisters” to our Priests, quietly supporting them with our prayers.
The Holy Hour is ideally prayed in a Church in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. If you are interested in committing to this apostolate, please contact Brenda Quinn with the name of the Priest you are praying for and the day of the week of your commitment.
