In Memoriam

As the Book of Wisdom foretold, it is only in the eyes of the foolish that our beloved deceased are dead; that their passing away is considered an affliction, “their going forth from us utter destruction.”
(Wisdom 3:2-3).

Of all the mysteries in God’s creation, the most difficult to accept is death. Your brothers and sisters who comprise the Roman Catholic Christian community of the Church of the Assumption wish to offer you our sincere and heartfelt condolences in this time of sorrow and pain. We pray that your loved one may even now be resting in the arms of our beloved Savior, Jesus Christ, whose own passion, death and resurrection has gained for us the promise of everlasting life beyond earthly death.

Because we are a people of faith in the promises of Our Lord Jesus Christ, we celebrate with the ancient rituals of the Church the passing of our beloved deceased from this life into the full presence of God. These rituals have taken shape through the expressions of faith that have grown over the two millennia of Christian witness.

Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon them.

Sandra Jaggard

Sandra Jaggard, state lawyer who worked most Miami death-penalty cases, dies at 51. Known for her encyclopedic command of the law, Florida senior assistant attorney general Sandra Jaggard helped keep some of Miami’s most notorious killers on Death Row.Jaggard was a unique person with a unique job.

Jaggard died unexpectedly Tuesday of a suspected heart attack. She was 51.
Her death stunned colleagues at Miami’s criminal courthouse, where Jaggard was a fixture not only in arguing appeals but helping prosecutors.

“I always marveled at her legal talents. Sandy was the go-to person if you needed a case on point or wanted a sounding board to explore legal arguments,” said Associate Deputy Attorney General Carolyn Snurkowski, a colleague of more than two decades.

“She was a brilliant lawyer,” said Miami-Dade Assistant State Attorney Penny Brill, the head of her office’s legal bureau who worked alongside her on appeals. “It’s such a loss to both offices. She meant so much to us.”

Jaggard was born May 2, 1965, in Woodbury, New Jersey. Along with her family, she moved to Huntsville, Alabama, and later attended Vanderbilt University, earning a degree in biomedical engineering in the early 1980s.

Outside of court, Jaggard loved cooking and baking, marking every holiday season by passing out fudge and other treats to fellow lawyers. She also loved to travel. Despite an often-punishing work schedule, Jaggard rarely missed a holiday gathering with her siblings and eight nieces and nephews.

“She was a pretty doting aunt, exceptionally so,” said her brother, John Jaggard.

Rosemary Cesarano

Rosemary Cesarano, (née Haley) age 83, lifetime resident of National Park, NJ peacefully passed on October 17, 2016 surrounded by her family.

Legacy
A fun loving and dedicated woman, Rosemary had the wonderful gift of meeting folks and making them feel special. You always had a warm welcome from Rosemary a meal to make you feel at home. Those who knew Rosemary were often blessed with her homemade pound cake which all looked forward to enjoying. Rosemary was the life of the party and made sure others enjoyed the festivities as well. She was devoted to her family and always made the new members of the family feel like they always belonged.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, Rosemary was a proud lifetime resident of National Park until 2001. A proud graduate of Woodbury High School, Rosemary excelled at girls basketball and hockey teams. Rosemary was chosen captain of the 1951 Hockey team and received the Girls Varsity Club Award. She was an active lifetime parishioner of Holy Angels Parish at St. Matthew's RC Church.

Loving husband of Maria A. (nee Lanzelotti). Devoted father of Richard Clemento of Philadelphia and Maria Migrala (Joe) of Deptford. Son of Rosalie A. (nee Campagnola) of Deptford and the late Alexander A. Clemento. Brother of Anthony Clemento (Rebecca) of Philadelphia. Grandfather of Jayden.

Also survived by his aunt, nieces, nephews and cousins. Richard was a true family man who loved and was devoted to his family. He enjoyed spending time with his dear friends and entertaining in his home. He loved the holidays, decorating and being together with his family and friends. The most precious times to Richard were those he spent with his grandson, Jayden, who he loved dearly. Richard was the store manager for Famous Footwear in Turnersville for over twenty years.

Legacy
Mary will be remembered as a woman of strong faith. A long time parishioner of St. Patrick's R. C. Church in Woodbury where she volunteered for many years and was a a member of the Coffee Clatch Group that met after daily Mass.

Mary worked in the Accounting Department for the Pennsylvania Railroad for more than 40 years until her retirement. Mary will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Legacy
MaryAnn grew up in Haddonfield and then moved to Spray Beach, LBI. She and Edward settled down in West Deptford where they started a long and beautiful life raising seven children. MaryAnn enjoyed dancing, going to socials, reading, watching game shows and various sitcoms. She especially enjoyed the Lawrence Welk show and would never miss an episode. MaryAnn enjoyed working on her garden, growing hyacinths and tulips. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her loving family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Beatrice H. McCaffrey

Beatrice H. McCaffrey (nee Hughes), age 88 died on September 7, 2016 at her home in Woodbury where she lived over 63 years.

Bea was born and raised in Atlantic City to Marcella (nee Mulkeen) and Maurice Hughes. She was a member of the Theta Alpha Chi Sorority and St. Patrick’s Church in Woodbury. Bea was a cheerleading coach at St. Patrick’s School and Woodbury High School. She was also a 4 H Leader.

She was predeceased by her husband Robert and sister Lillian Michel. Survived by her children Craig (Karen), Christine (Amber) Samaroo, Pat (Jeanne), Kelly Gardner, brothers William, George (Janet), Edward (Carmen), James (Joan) Hughes and grandchildren Michael and Debra McCaffrey, Aileen Gardner, Cat (Jeff) Olenick, John Gardner and Rachael and Rebecca Samaroo.

Edward M. Coles, Jr.

Edward M. Coles, Jr., 58, of West Deptford, passed away suddenly and tragically on August 26, 2016, along with wife of 34 years, Rosemarie (nee Porter).

Legacy
Ed was born in Camden and was a lifelong resident of West Deptford, NJ. He was a 1976 graduate of West Deptford High School and a 1981 graduate of Eastern School of Musical Instrument Repair. In 1975, Ed joined the Bonsal Blues Band with his Dad, Ed Sr. Ed was a virtuoso clarinetist and saxophonist, quickly moving up the ranks to become the director of the concert band, and in turn, the dance band. Ed put his heart and soul into every aspect of “his” band. The Bonsal Blues is a family-oriented community band, world-renown, in part to Ed, he ALWAYS had the band’s best interests at heart for nearly 42 years. Ed was the original owner of Coles Music Service and continued to work in the newest location in Mantua, NJ. Ed was a master craftsman, a musical repair technician, repairing instruments for professional musicians across the country, he was the most sought-after repairman in the country. Ed’s infectious good-natured personality was evident to everyone. His kindness and generosity toward everyone was extraordinary. Ed was instrumental in planning parties and trips for family and friends, and most recently, was planning a trip to Tennessee for the Bonsal Blues Band. Ed’s passion for his friends, family, and music will be missed far more than words could ever express. Along with his high school sweetheart, Rose, Ed devoted his life to their sons and loved them unconditionally.

While sometimes seen as quiet and shy, Rose possessed a vibrant personality and huge heart with so much love to share. She had a strong devotion to her faith. Rose often enjoyed shopping, going to the movies and traveling. Rose and Ed traveled the country, Europe, and Canada, and especially enjoyed their trips to Walt Disney World.
Born in Camden, NJ, Rose was a longtime resident of West Deptford, NJ. She was formerly employed at the University of Pennsylvania and took great pride in her career as a dental hygienist.
Along with Ed, her high school sweetheart, Rose devoted her life to their sons and loved them unconditionally.

Graduated from F.L. Garrison Memorial High School, Shickshinny, PA in 1949. Received Bachelor's degree in Education from Bloomsburg University, Bloomsburg, PA in 1953. Married Thomas E. Schukis (deceased) in June 1955. Taught in Clayton, Clementon, and Woodbury, New Jersey.
Predeceased by husband and infant son. Survived by daughter Cynthia Curry and her husband Chris; daughter Vanessa Schukis; son Thomas J. Schukis and his wife Kim; son Matthew D. Schukis; daughter Amy Sheehan and her husband J; and grandchildren Emma Sheehan and Braden Sheehan.

Francis was a loving father to Veronica Conway (Fiancée Jason Nieves) and Ashley Conway . Devoted Grandfather of Noah Williams. He was friends with the mother of his children Kathy. Ida M. Bittner

Ida M. Bittner, 85, of Deptford, a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on August 26, 2016.

Legacy
A long time resident of Gloucester County, Ida was born in Philadelphia on February 21, 1931 to her parents, Frederick and Emma Hetzel. She was one of the first parishioners of Most Holy Redeemer Parish, in Westville Grove. Ida loved crocheting, baking and collecting Hummels, but her true joy came from spending time with and caring for her family. Mom Mom and Pop Pop’s house was never short on good food, games, movies or dolls for Ida’s beloved grandchildren and great-grandkids. Time spent with Mom Mom was a blessing, and her birthday cakes were legendary.
Ida is now reunited with her parents and siblings Fred, Robert, Mary, Emma, Alice, Lillian and Rollins.

Best known as “Mom” or “Mom Mom,” Ida is survived by her husband of 69 years, William and her five children: William Jr. and wife Maria, Linda Harrigan and husband Allen, Stephen and wife Virginia, Michael and wife Linda and Daniel and wife Pauline. She will be dearly missed by her 10 grandchildren: Bill, Melissa, Amanda, Michael, Shawn, John, Gina, Shannon, Zachary and Samantha and eight great-grandchildren: Billy, Ben, Emmalin, Arianna, Michael, Alora-Anne, Lawrence and Lillian; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Dolores M. McCloskey (nee Staines) of Deptford, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on August 2, 2016. Age 78.

Susan A. Chrone, (née Jones) age 75, of Woodbury, NJ was reunited with her husband in Heaven on July 31, 2016.

Susan was an outgoing and helpful woman who volunteered for many organizations throughout South Jersey. She dedicated a career taking care of others as an RN and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Martha Chiaro, nee Pachella, age 81 years, formerly of Bellmawr and Woodbury, NJ, died surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 in Paoli Hospital, Paoli, PA

Martha was born and raised in Philadelphia and moved to Bellmawr in 1960. She was a loving wife for 60 years to the late Peter Chiaro, Sr., and mother to her three children. Her passions were cooking for her family and friends and casino visits to Atlantic City.

She is survived by her devoted children, Carol (Mark) Sibley of Mullica Hill, NJ, Peter Jr. (Jean) of Clinton, TN, and Lisa of Berwyn, PA; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and her brother-in-law, Christopher Chiaro of Tuckerton, NJ.

Jim was a retired 30 year U.S. Navy and Fleet Reserve Veteran. He was also a retired shift engineer for MacAndrews and Forbes. He was a former Deptford Council member for many years and former Mayor of Deptford Twp.

Evelyn M Sarlo, (nee Worrell) of Woodbury, New Jersey, was gently called home by the Lord on June 14, 2016 just six days shy of achieving her 95th birthday in her loving daughter's arms and surrounded by other loving family and friends who shared memories and love. She was aged 94 years.

Legacy
A loving woman who possessed a quiet strength is the legacy that Evelyn leaves her family to cherish.
Born and raised in Camden, NJ, Evelyn lived in Southern New Jersey all of her life. She enjoyed 53 years of marriage to her husband, Robert before he passed away in 2010. Evelyn's kitchen was the heart of her home where countless hours of memories were made. She served the community of Woodbury as a Crossing Guard for more than 10 years ensuring that the children traveled to and from school safely.

Evelyn will be remembered as a woman who loved caring for others; was extremely devoted to her faith and the rosary; which she faithfully recited three times a day and was very proud of her Irish heritage. Evelyn will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Beatrice Mary Hrubos

Beatrice Mary Hrubos Woodbury, N.J., passed away suddenly on June 1, 2016.

Beatrice was born on November 27, 1926, in Philadelphia to the late Alexander and Beatrice (nee Woodfield) Boyd.

Beatrice was loved by so many for her kind hearted ways at the Woodbury Mews where she enjoyed dancing, playing bingo, and spending time with friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Melfi of Buckingham Valley, PA; her grandchildren, Bernadette Verbas of Warminster, PA, Brian Mullen of Sewell, NJ, and June Laperriere of Woodstown, NJ; five great-grandchildren, and her sister, Jeanette Curry of Philadelphia. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Michael George Hrubos, and her brother, William Boyd.

Maryann C. (nee McGuigan), 69, of National Park, NJ passed away on May 27, 2016 with her loving family at her side

Legacy
Born in Camden, NJ, she was a longtime resident of National Park. A loving and generous woman, Maryann was a person that you could always depend on. She was a devoted mother and wife that took great pride in her role as a homemaker. Maryann was a deeply religious woman who was guided by her faith in the Lord. She was a parishioner at St. Matthew’s RC Church in National Park where she taught CCD classes. She was also a Member of the National Park Board of Education for over 20 years. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community.

Victoria Lynn Markman

Vicki was born in Somerville, NJ, grew up in Cinnaminson, and resided in Maple Shade before moving to Somers Point in 2000.

She worked at the Borgata Casino in Atlantic City for 13 years and in the casino industry for over 20 years. She was a respected and beloved colleague and friend. Vicki loved her family and enjoyed the company of her friends. She enjoyed the beach, dancing, and shopping for great bargains. She was a fun-loving person with a sense of humor, a hard worker, and was well respected by all of those who knew her. Vicki is survived by her parents Edmund and Joan Markman of West Deptford; sister Sandy Markman of NYC, brother Stephen, nephew Joshua, niece Niva. She also was a great-aunt to Zachary.

Joseph D. "Muggsy/Chief" Clifford, Sr. 85, passed away peacefully at home on May 19th, 2016, with his family by his side and in the arms of his beloved wife.

Legacy
Joe proudly served in the U.S Navy for four years, during which time he met the love of his life, Evelyn, while dancing at Martins. He also worked for RCA in Camden for 30 years before he retired. Joe was an accomplished target shooter who competed in the National Matches in Camp Perry, Ohio in the early sixties. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and family, especially to the Outer Banks and to his little cottage in Grassy Sound, NJ. He was a past Grand Knight Council 5197 in National Park. Joe’s interests included wood-carvings of shore birds, fishing, crabbing, rooting on the Phillies, Eagles, Flyers, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Margaret Ann Weisenbach

Margaret Ann Weisenbach, longtime resident of Deptford, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2016
at the age of 85.

Legacy
A loving lady who adored her family, especially her grandchildren, Marge was the hostess of all the family gatherings. She was devoted to her faith and loved going to church. Marge enjoyed tending to her garden, doing puzzles and reading the newspaper front page to last. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends.
Born in Erie, PA, Marge was a resident of Deptford since 1962 and a longtime parishioner of St. Patrick's RC Church of Holy Angels Parish. Prior to retiring, Marge was employed in the operations department of Bank of America.
